I've been creating a game for the Sega Saturn since the end of march of this year. I simply named my project Sonic Z-Treme, which is a game that takes inspiration from Sonic X-Treme, but doesn't attempt to be a 1:1 conversion.
The game is coded using C language, Jo Engine SDK and SGL.
I've been coding pretty much the whole engine from scratch, such as the collision detection engine, the BSP, the physics, collision BB precomputing, etc.
It runs at 60 FPS on stock Saturn and right...

Some may know that Widescreen hacks have been done for the Original Xbox, Ps2, Game Cube, Dreamcast and even the Psx.

So I was thinking, why no one loves the Sega Saturn?

So the other night I gave it a shoot, so far so good, I've found different addresses were values for v-fov, h-fov among other things, were stored.

I am pretty much new to the Sega Saturn Hacking so I am not really sure of how things do work on the console. It seems there is no emulator with static memory which...

I'm having some conflicting ideas whether or not this is a saturn prototype controller
First off this controller will not work on a mega drive. I already tested a bunch of games including six button compatible games.
Secondly, this prototype uses a DB9 plug which the saturn did not use in the final retail consoles
The controller is dated 1993 on the inside so it could very well be something made during the development of the console since the japanese release...

Ages ago, while studying the Saturn sound system, I noticed (without paying too much attention) that the CartDev system could be equipped with a MIDI interface module to allow composers to use the SCSP as a MIDI target and work on music directly on the CardDev rather than the Sound Box.

Even though I worked on the Saturn back in the day, I had never actually seen the MIDI interface module, until today.
There is a picture of it on an auction on Yahoo Auctions Japan right now:...

Everybody that owns a rhea right now is on lookout for a menu system. Does anybody know if this menu is even possible. I'm not sure how the hardware is differs from the GDEMU to the RHEA. Is it even possible to send commands to the RHEA in the hardware and/or firmware's current state?]]>

So I recently met someone that had a bunch of disks and cd's with source code and development tools from Sega. He said he got them at a IRS liquidation sale of a company in the Bay Area after the web bubble burst. Anyways I finally met up with him and took a look at the files.

There was a ton of stuff but a lot of it was Sega Saturn stuff so I'm posting here.

There was a ton of 1.44mb floppy discs with source code of various Sega games. Also a lot of developer tools. I will get to...

For some game it's impossible from a PC CD Rom drive extract file from Sega Saturn disk. I would like see inside SEGA AGES Vol 1 especially I would like extract rom used for Outrun, AB2 and Space Harrier. Note that for this game, Sega ages use rom original PCB but it's not emulation, it's a true port enhanced...CPU chip is same family old sega arcade system (ante Model 1).

So How to extract it please?

So I was wondering the feasibility of duplicating such a PCB using an SH-2 chip from a Saturn (or other source).]]>
