Short demonstration video showing startup of the Sega Saturn Sophia Programming Box with Hitachi E7000PC and HS7604EPD70H POD. The POD is installed on the slave PGA slot within the Sophia. The host PC contains the E7000PC ISA interface card and is running IBM PC DOS J6.3/V.

The 'In-Circuit Emulator' for the Sega Saturn Sophia Programming Box is the Hitachi E7000 (or E7000PC) connected to an HS7604EPD70H (known as the POD) on one of the SH-2 slots within the Sophia. The POD/Sophia connection is via a stack of Pin-Grid Array boards (PGAs).

In the instance of the E7000PC, demonstrated here, a PC interface card is included in the setup. The host PC used here is an IBM PS/1 running PC DOS J6.3/V. The Sophia video output is on the background LCD monitor.

The startup sequence is as follows:
    1) Start PC DOS
    2) Run IPI.exe (found on the E7000PC floppy disk, copied to HDD here)
    3) Power on the E7000PC
    4) Once the E7000PC interface is ready, power on the Sophia Target Box
    5) The Sophia must have fully booted before starting the E7000PC interface; in this video the POD is installed on slave; the Sophia will show video output (seen in background monitor) to the normal boot menu.
    6) Enter a command to start the E7000PC, e.g. 'S' to use previous settings.

The mode of the E7000PC and POD can be changed from the command prompt ready state as per the Hitachi manual. To change the mode use MODE;C

On the slave slot the following messages appear after the Emulator POD is tested:
    Failed at RES
    Failed at BREQ
Note that these messages do not appear when the POD is installed on the Master slot.
The Failed at WAIT notice is of unknown origin at this time.
