hmmm, can someone can tell me if with the latest firmware update from micomsoft fixes the annoing psx resolution change problem?

es: when some games change resolution (from in game to menu and viceversa) the xrgb seems to lose signal for a few seconds

I'm afraid it does not. All upscan converters have this issue. The TV also adds to the delay because that has to sync back up to the Framemeister resulting in an even longer pause. It goes 's like this.

    Game changes resolution
Framemister tries to resync the image.
    TV looses the Framemister signal
Framemister finds the new signal to the console and syncs.
The TV then finds the Framemister and displays the image again.

Depending on the TV this process can take anything from 2 seconds to 5 seconds. A real pain in the arse for games that switch resolution during game play. Thankfully there aren't that many.

One option on the latest firmware is it alter the speed at which the Framemister looks for a sync signal. This will speed up the process but doesn't work for all devices. I've used this option with Dead Or Alive on the Saturn and it did make a difference.

Wouldn't it be possible to have framemeister continue to send a signal (black screen) to the TV since (I guess) it converts everything to the same output signal anyway to eliminate the TV part of the lag?

Would it help to add preset resolutions to the framemeister for a given system (knowing that eg psx has a finite nine of possible display modes) so it doesn't have to auto detect the signal?

That would be a good idea and probably possible but then again if it was that simple other upscan converters as well as the Framemister would have done that from the beginning. I wonder if there's a reason why nobody has fixed this issue?

Even with the sync issue the framemeister is still totally worth it. Far better image quality than TV upscaling and also solves the "too low res to detect" issue a lot of modern tvs have. Games that have sync issues during gameplay are very rare, so normally the only issue is part of the boot animation gets cut off. Which you can solve by changing the sync time and pressing the reset button on the console after you turn it on.

Yeah, but some games, like castlevania on psx become totally unplayable, there's even a video that shows al the thing on youtube, but now i can't find it :p
There are a good amount of games on the psx that changes the resolution during gameplay for menu, loading screen etc...

Sony have always been a pain in the arse with resolutions. The PS2 switches a lot as well. Saturn switches on high resolution games. The actual playable sections are all high resolution while the loading screens are standard resolution. Games that do this off the top of my head are all fighting games, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Virtua Fighter Kids and Last Bronx. Castlevania on the Saturn doesn't switch resolutions from what I remember.

Hey, this might not be the framemeister's fault directly (it probably is my SNES) but, playing street fighter 2 turbo or street fighter 2 new challengers seems to be giving sync issues on the character select screens. On turbo, there were issues on Ryu's stage as well. Turning sync mode to "off" allowed the game to remain playable, but with a vertical jumpiness to it, otherwise, it would black out repeatedly. Any idea why this is? Haven't had it with any other SNES game.

The SFC / SNES should not have any sync issues as games don't normally change resolution apart for 5 or so titles. Street Fighter Turbo isn't one of them. Sounds like your SNES needs a different sync rating. My Mega Drive is the same.

In the Sync settings you'll find an area that allows you to change the sync value one number at a time. Try changing this up or down one number at a time. You'll find your skipping image will be fixed once you find the correct setting.

Unfortunately it doesn't stabilize on any number. I only get sync between 22 and 26. It's only during character select and Ryus stage, that's what makes it odd. Doesn't happen on my other snes, only my us snes mini. Every other game works perfectly otherwise.
