First off, I would like to say that I am a fairly dirty individual. Not personal hygine-wise, but I am very unorganised and throw things around everywhere without giving it a second thought. That said, here is what I have learned from not cleaning my room for the past three or so years:
    1. roaches can survive a nuclear holocaust, but apparently not my closet
    2. milk can solidify
    3. shoe deoderizer takes away the smell of said milk
    4. sweat soaked socks, if left alone long enough, can become brittle enough to break
    5. sleeping on a bed without sheets leaves crop circle like marks on your chest.
    6. a wet rain coat left in a bundle in a corner will procure life within three days
    7. said raincoat provides an excellent dwelling for small mammals.
    8. dried out orange peels provide an excellent potpourri.
    9. I can get my radiator hot enough to cook an egg.
    10. the smell from your room can get bad enough that the neighbors complain
(note: all of these things have all either been tested or happened to me.)

    11. Some forms of mold actually do glow in the dark.
    12. Walking barefoot on unvacuumed shag carpeting can hurt more than sharp gravel.

    That is seriously nasty.

One time there was so much crap on my carpet that I was able to roll up a significantly large ball of debris (hair, dustbunnies, specs of strange organic material, etc.) I now vaccum more than once a year.

Thats commonplace for me. But I have two dogs. Usually, there is always an ubsurd amount of hair on the floor, and the other night my Dog was sick, and before I knew it, he threw up and pooped Diarrhea-like liquid poop on the carpet. -_-

I have to vacuum and / or wash my carpet all the time.

Last week/month/year I opened up a Baby Ruth candy bar and the peanuts flew everywhere across my little room. I haven't vacuumed it up yet, which I really should do since about everything in my room is on the floor; my bed is a mattress on the floor, systems are on the floor, tv and comp are close to the floor, I don't really elevate much of anything, but maybe I should elevate a vacuum over my floor so I don't wake up covered in carpet peanuts and pringles and other assorted crap.

    Yep.

  9. Note that the heat of the radiator can often affect other items on the list - namely, decaying leftover food and dirty laundry - often giving them a shorter half-life and intensifying the smell they emit.

    - Fascinatingly enough, coffee grows mold - both on old grounds, and on the surface of the liquid itself.

    - Coffee with milk seperates disgustingly AND grows mold.

    - Tea bags shrivel up into a mummified form but do not grow any sort of mold.

    - Orange juice produces the most disgusting mold known to man.

    - Moldy muffings, even when sealed with duct tape in an airtight zip-lock bag, will continue to mold until they no longer resemble muffins. Do this to gross the hell out of any annoying and squeamish roommates you have, and cite it as an experiment.

EDIT: Muffins also work. I have no idea what the hell a muffing is. It sounds dirty.

Will muffins work? (sorry, couldn't help it, I saw the word muffings and couldn't stop laughing, typos are so damn funny)

  11. Lmao, this thread reminds me of when I helped my friend Dan move out of his first apartment. I had no idea before that night that bread, if left long enough in a drawer, will turn to liquid. We emptied out his fridge and found milk that had expired 6 months before... needless to say, the contents (which can no longer be called milk) got dumped in his asshole neighbor's truck bed.

  12. There should be a warning on reading this thread...

...I was trying to eat my breakfast! *heave

I should tell you guys about my uncle sometime. The nastiest basement ever. Jars of fucking spit all over the place. Rolled up pieces of toilet paper used to clean his nose. Don't ask me why he did this stuff, I have no idea. I actually cleaned his place out for him. Dust, dust, dust everywhere. Disgusting.

Really? How long did you leave it out? I left some out for a week and it grew some uninteresting green stuff on the top but nothing else.

I remember when I was in the third grade, one boy spat in his water bottle and left it closed for days. Soon enough, what appeared to be an organism starting growing inside.

Also, never leave any of your older console slots open for years (An NES to be exact). Makes a nice home for cockroach(es).

Bloody hell! Some of you guys are right dirty sods!! I clean my place EVERY Saturday which includes vacuuming and dusting. Having a house where 80% of the floor is glossy wood really shows up the dust. Only the bed room isn't wood and even then you have to vacuum to keep the tatami mats fresh. There's nothing I hate more than a messy place. saying that my PC desk is in it's normal dump like state at the moment. Probably the messiest place in the house.

    I just have a cleaner...

But I am vaguelly OCD about tidyness, I'm sure if I didn't have a cleaner I would clean at least once a week. Even in Japan I had this lady come in a give my place a quick going ever every week, I also managed to get her to do my washing!

But I did do an experiment with a bit of bread in a jar when I was about 10, got very moldy indeed and was then deployed as a bomb when combined with fairy liquid and a firework - the smell haunts me to this day.

I try to keep my room clean and organized most of the time. The rest of the house is a different story. Its mainly because of my mom and dad, though. I cleaned and organized the kitchen for my mom once, and it was an absolute mess the next day. After that, I was like "screw it". She is trying to make it look better, though.

We really need to take a trip to the dump since we have all sorts of crap that needs to go over there.
