Yesterday was the 10th Anniversary of the XBOX release. I...did not observe Looking back at 10 years of XBOX there sure is alot of good and alot of WTF. Otogi, JSRF, the first online versions for SF II and 3rd strike in the West. Halo which to this day I STILL think is the most immersive FPS ever made. The Kinect which is way better than the Wii. The WTF naming the 360 the 360, Not releasing Metal wolf Chaos in the US The Recall of Kakuto Chojin (VERY Underrated fighter) The stigma of the RROD which even a year or so after it's solved still haunts the 360. I also have EVERY issue of OXM 10 years of XBOX demos so more than any other systems I have the entire history of the console line at my command and on top of that I got the XBOX about a month after launch and still have my Manufacture date Dec 12th 2001 XBOX hooked up right now. Any one else have some XBOX memories to share good or bad?
10 Years on I'm still trying to figure out what the fuck is good about Halo. Having been a FPS addict in the 90's on PC, I failed to see its appeal and still do.
Halo 2 is easily one of the best multiplayer games ever. Get some friends over and play multiplayer and you'll find out
Still playing Otogi 1 & 2 on my xbox. Never really got hooked up on fps, but loved several of it's underrated gems.
Already done. I've played them all, multiplayer, front, backwards, upside down. Whatever. Still don't see the "revolutionary" element. Anyway back OT, I thought it had been longer than 10 years for the xbox but I remember when it came out. It was a pretty alluring machine on release its just sad it never got pushed to its limits.
Playing doa Xtreme beach volleyball whilst in college realizing it was 3:00 am then shotgunning an energy drink to work on a physics paper due the next day. Doa xtreme beach volleyball so pleasing to the eyes.
Halo 2 is still one of best online games I've played and got into. Literally used to come home from school play Halo 2 online then repeat again aha. Miss playing that game. If they remade Halo 2 similar to what they have done with Halo 1 but kept everything the same mulitplayer wise I'd be sold to get Xbox Live.
To really understand Halo you need to look at Goldeneye and Perfect Dark They were the beginings of Console FPS' and they were decent but then 2-3 years later there's Halo. Halo showed that not only can you do an FPS on a console but that you can do it just as well with no Mouse and keyboard and possibly better. Halo is the goldstardard of the FPS even now EVERY FPS now tries to be Halo.
I remember getting my Xbox i think at Christmas in 2002 and loved playing JSRF along with Halo and then i got PGR which stopped me playing GT3 on my PS2 for a while. The only thing i missed out on the system was Live. Remember reading about it before it came out and wanting to play PGR 2 but sadly only signed up to live when i got my 360.
This. A bunch of dudes in a CoD lobby got mad at me because they were talking about how Halo sucks. And I said, the games are pretty similar, they use the same health system. They just said I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about.
Honestly, I'm sick of that health system being used in every game nowadays. I bet the new GTA is gonna have it.
I feel the same way. After Golden Eye 007 and Perfect Dark, another FPS wouldn't get my attention until BIOSHOCK came out. Deus Ex was promising, but the XBOX port had too poor of a frame rate for me.
thinking about this stuff, i'm kind of sad nobody tried to continue working on an xbox emu (there was one that started but never fished), unless i'm missing out on something. There are a lot of old xbox games I would love to go back and try again but I really don't want to re get a xbox1 again after selling mine a few years back. =/
