Just been reading the thread about what was happening in the game industry 10 years ago and kinda got me thinking about what I was doing ten years ago. I was just starting out my training for my career after just leaving school not really knowing if it was the right thing to do. My home town was still reeling in shock about the bomb that had happened a few months earlier. (The IRA bombed the center of Manc with it`s biggest ever mainland bomb - ripping the heart out of it) We were never sure if it was safe to be out there was a constant fear of another attack. 10 years later I still work with aircraft Ive been to the far side of the earth and back and generally much better off. So where were you 10 years ago?
I was still a wee chillun' in elementary school. I couldn't have guessed that this country would take a fucking nosedive ten years later, and piss off the rest of the world while doing it. Hopefully in another ten years I'll still be alive, and with a kickass career going to boot.
10 years (and 10 days) ago, I arrived in Tokyo to live. I didn't have my own room, got a shitty job, and ate cheap, crappy food from the convenient store, but it was the best time of my life. Responsibility found me some 1.5 years later.
Still in school, about to turn 14. Probably around time I first got interested in Japan thanks to a cyberpunk novel my mum bought me (Prize to anyone who can guess what it is). That book has a lot to answer for!
10 years ago i was still in primary school not really think about what i wanted to do with my life and i would have been most of the time playing any Fifa or any resident evil on my playstation or with my friend on his playstation.
10 years ago i had not long passed my driving test, didnt have any games console (apart from a Gameboy), was mad about cars (still am i guess) and thought i knew everything... Amazing how some things never change! lol
Ten years ago I was on elementary school trying to trade my Atari Lynx for my friend's brand new Gameboy Color (with no success, of course)
Ten years ago I was another geek in a way-too-posh highschool. A real textbook geek case, including the hairstyle and Star Trek-watching. About that time I sold my boxed NES with some 25 boxed games I'd had for years, and was playing loads of PC games on a 486 me and my brother had slowly assembled with our pocket money
Around ten years ago, I was 11 years old, and during that whole year, I played nothing but POKYMAHN!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT: Hmmm, wait, Pokemon didn't come out until 1998 Nov. I think I was playing on a friends Playstation. Megaman legends. Crap now I can't remember. I used to game a LOT more than I think I did back then.
10yrs ago around this day I was 13 and played trough FF7 for the second time on my shiny new PSX. Ah, the memories. :icon_bigg
10 years ago i only played nintendo games (i was 8 BTW), and i didn't knew that the playstation even existed, at that town i lived in a little town and was very disconnected from the outside world.
Pokemon TV show came out Sept 7 1998, the game Sept 28th 1998. I still have the promo videos hyping it.
haha, looking back, me too! i just used to think, "Oh I didn't start gaming until last generation when Halo came out. but that's not true at all. i probably have been saying that to sound cool. i've just got to embrace the fact that i've been gaming as long as i can remember.
I was just 8 years old and didn't even own a console (not untill I turned 10), I was just playing some random stuff on a friends PC and on my GameBoy. Well those were the times, no worries about HDTV, Scanlines, uncut/cut, mint or used? and "how the fuck am I supposed to raise 1000$ for a loose ketsui?"^^
