I can't stand Japanese Yankees. They're such dumb fucks you wouldn't believe it. Best of all they're weak as well so knocking your average Yankee on his arse is pretty easy.

Yakumo, I think that's being way too flattering to the small-fry Yankees. The above videos show nationalist/tsuppari/black emperor punks from the 80s, and the Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate. Comparing them to Yankees is like comparing the Mafia to Trailer Park trash.

Ah, too true but then again most Yakuza are fags (Not in the homosexual sense) as well. Bung them all together though...........

When I first moved to Shimonoseki (In the Yamaguchi prefecture) I shit myself when I heard about the Yamaguchi Gumi syndicate until I realized they don't actually live here  We do have one Yakuza familly in the old castle town about 20 minutes from my house by bike but they don't seem to cause any trouble or not in the last 9 years I've lived here.

I lived in a big "yakuza area" for about 2 years and never saw or heard anything. Kitakyushu is supposedly famous for them.

Then again every larger house you see in Japan always comes with the "a yakuza boss lives there" rumor...heh.

Yes, Kitakyushu is a bit of a dump apart from Kokura City Center to be honest. Especially Tobata and Yahata and to an extent, Moji as well. Living in Shimonoseki and working in Tobata you can really see the difference in quality. And people wonder why I won't move to Kita Kyushu :p

The old school yakuza as shown in the video haven't been since the 80s. They still exist, but on a far less flamboyant level.

@Yakumo and Japan Games: There's no reason why you should have noticed any yakuza unless you borrowed money from loan sharks, ran up big illegal gambling debts or were in involved in the construction industry.

Its not dangerous anywhere in japan is it? With a murder rate of 1.1 per 100k and strict gun laws i would feel safe anywhere in that country. Gangbangers and all.

Japan is relatively safe at anytime of day in pretty much any part of the country. The problem is that it's so safe that arse holes such as gangs stand out 10 times more than if based in another country.

There are plenty of normal arse holes in Japan mind you. You only need to be a driver to see them.

My uncle was in osaka waiting for a flight to manilla to pick up his wife and 3 guys with homemade knives robbed him in the airport bathroom. Why were the knives homemade? is it hard to get any kind of weapon in japan?

No idea. You can buy a big sharp knife in any department store.
