I'm updating my master list of releases from Japan, just thought I'd see which year you guys would rank higher in terms of releases:

    1983:

    Bandai Arcadia
    Sega SG-1000
    Nintendo Famicom
    Epoch Cassette Vision Jr.
    Bandai Vectrex
    Othello Multivision
    Gakken TV Boy
    Casio PV-1000
    Bandai RX-78 Gundam
    SC-3000

    1994:

    Sega Mega Jet
    PC Engine DUO-RX
    Sega Saturn
    Sony Playstation
    PC-FX
    3DO
    Neo Geo CD
    Bandai Playdia
    Aiwa/Sega CSD-GM1

    Use any criteria you want...

    The daddy. Nuff said.

Edit..excuse my ignorance but which of the 83 systems are revamps. By that I mean 94 also lost points in my eyes as the megajet, aiwa and rx weren't new consoles in the sense of new games we couldn't play on other iterations. The neo cd too to a large degree.

    I choose 1994.
Our beloved Saturn was born unto the consumer world.
AND the Neo Geo Cd made it just a little more affordable to play some great games that were otherwise out of financial reach.

I have to go with 1994 because not only is Saturn one of my all time favs, but the PSX probably had the biggest impact on gaming of any of the systems in either list.

    '94 for the Saturn alone.

    Was Jaguar 1993 then?

Whatever, I mentioned recently on another forum about how that era was the worst time for console releases with so many going down the tube.
