    NWC Grey Competition cart:
    $8100, sold.

    NWC Gold (VGA'd - unfortunately)
    0 bids, @ 27,000 and unsold

Any wealthy members of the forums placing bids?

But the chip windows on the VGA'd cart are exposed!! surely the data will have been erased?? :/
I realise that VGA claim their plastic to be UV proof but we only have their word for it

    Sellers excuses:

    Cart has seen little light
Is placed in a UV protective case
Was done by VGA who don't want to risk their reputation
    All NWC will die eventually
Data can be reloaded onto the ROM chips

Not my cup of tea really, nice for Nintendo collectors but I can name many video game related items I'd rather spend $27,000 on.

This is funny, all these people buying items that are poor investment for sure.

Once the bootlegs are around it will be impossible to tell them apart really.

Are bootlegs currently in circulation? Obviously, if 50 eBayers start NWC cart auctions at Buy it Now $50, we'll know.

I don't think there are currently any 1:1 bootlegs of the NWC carts. RetroZone's reproduction can't be passed off as original. It could be done sure, but honestly you have to be an idiot to pay for example over $20,000 for this "game". I could see some hardcore collector paying a hefty amount, but when you are talking the same amount as a brand new CAR you're an idiot with too much money. And investing in this stuff in any way is pretty retarded.

WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TAKE THE BOARD OUT OF THE CART!? It actually looks broken that way besides it's 27K!

The reason for that is so you can see it is not a homemade concoction. If the cartridge was put together you could easily make a fake that looked real. By taking it apart you can see if it has the correct/authentic PCB and parts populating it.

That would be good to SHOW that, but not always out like that. Really to me it seems like it doesn't work with the PCB naked :p

I think the seller with the gold cart is just trying to get the word out that he has one for sale, I'm not sure he expected to get $27k for it.

I sent the person a message saying that how on earth is the buyer ment to open the case to test the game without breaking the casing of the game

Not really. Is someone really going to go to the cost to, by picture, reproduce the PCB (which you can't see under the soldered components so you'd have to guess) and then try to make fakes? And if they did, it wouldn't be terribly long before it would just ruin the "market" for them anyway, and does anyone really care if that happens? None of us exactly are going to "invest" in this garbage.

Step 1: Ask seller to produce high resolution photographs of the components to "prove" it is real
Step 2: Using what you've already bootlegged (poorly), improve without paying $10k
    Step 3: Goto 20

    Next up: bootlegging VGA boxes.

If someone wants to waste their time duplicating this piece of shit exactly they can be my guest. RetroZone offers a functional reproduction for a decent price for sane people.
