2 x NES not accepting controller input ??

Hello!
Been awhile since I've popped around here.

I have 2 NES consoles I purchased faulty...
So far it was 72 pin connectors - I have video output (partial issue).
Front loader machines > Game goes in > Has to be up in order to work (cant be pushed down in loaded position) but this isnt the problem (yet)...

Both have same issue.
Plug in a controller and neither recognise any input from 2 different controls (Chinese bootleg controls).
I am thinking its two faulty controls but looking for other things to look out for also.

I did order a used genuine control off eBay today but won't arrive until next week..

I managed to get an original controller and both consoles are fine.
Cheap Chinese bootleg controls - not worth the $!
