So after all the input I received I decided to just dive right in and start the surgery. I went and bought thermal paste (Antec 7) and opened the case. Needless to say it was a hot mess inside. I also took a picture of all the spare parts I was able to dig out of storage from years ago. The current plan is to remove everything, replace the thermal paste, and replace everything with newer pieces. I'm hoping for input as I go, and I look forward to hearing your opinions on what combinations of parts to use, what if anything can be upgraded (fans perhaps?), etc., etc.

    You could try this
I do it to all my reflowed Xenon's to keep em nice and cool.
Also make sure you remember which DVD drives go with which console!

Yeah I am almost 100 percent positive the console has been opened before. And clearly played ALOT. I am definitely keeping all the parts from the console quarantined all to itself, including the DVD drive. All the extra DVD drives I have no idea what to do with. When I have some free time I want to learn more about the software end of things so I won't be so limited in messing around.....as of now I am completely clueless.

Let me guess Western? Haha. Well the extra DVD drives can be used for parts or replacements if their the same make/model or if you can spoof them. But you'll need the DVD keys for them and what not.

If you end up still having a RROD I'd be willing to re-flow it for you, as long as you don't mind waiting. I drive past Des Moines about once a month so I could pick it up and return it to you. Granted re-flowing is not as good as re-balling but I've only had one that I couldn't re-flow and one that RROD'd after a re-flow out of 50 or so 360's. I already have a stack of 360's that I need to do so it wouldn't be a hassle.

But hopefully you won't have to and it'll work perfectly after you reassemble it :D
