Looks nice, I hope the sound emulation is good and that there is a way to solder on a cartridge connector

    Tectoy is totally losing it...

    New controllers... WHY!?!
    New design... Wii style...
    No cartridge input?
As for the EA games, mobile games on a TV screen?

They probably try to sell this for 299 Reais. Don't count with me.

I kind liked it, and I think it must sell very well otherwise TecToy wouldn't produce a new model every year and so.
    And btw, it's R$338

Damn, it is butt fugly . My mind goes too, in the sense of "where the heck is the cartridge port ?" just like the missing cartridge port on the SMS. Which in reality blows chunks when there are no cartridge ports to a system.

I don't dislike it, but why they try to promote it as a great thing, taking off the cartridge input and selling for that price? Not to mention the wii stile and new controllers.

Doing this they look like Dynacom and that Wii vision crap. Damn, even the Dynacom Famiclones have the cartridge input intact.

I even confused with the SMS price. These things should cost at least half lf that price.

I agree with Johnny on this one. What is the point of buying a Mega Drive that you can't play cartridges on. I mean, the built in games will only last you so long and you know many of them will be Tec Toy's own crap.

System looks kind of neat but too bad the controllers aren't wireless and it had a cartridge port.

Also how many times are people going to rebuy tec toy consoles that keep having the same games on them as previous ones?

Merged your thread with this one, that already existed.

The info about those games is that they are the "Mobile versions". Maybe the cellphone games on a TV screen?

Nice design, a bit tacky though, and why the SMS3 gets the 6-button controllers and this MD3 those ugly 3-buttons ones?:banghead:

But the price....207 dollars! are they crazy?!

For that much I would expect a Dreamcast with 86 games built in:nod:

How much is a PSX in Brazil Johnny? to compare.

    This MegaDrive costs 338 Reais.

You can buy a PS2 down here, easily, for 400 Reais (or less!)

    A PSP ? Around 500 / 600 Reais. Same for the NDS.

So, you diagnosed it right. Tectoy are CRAZY!!!

But do people buy TecToy's shit when for a lettle extra they can get the current Gen systems rather than 20 year old+ technology?

It's awful. I love the new SMS design but this looks like a sandwhich toaster.

From what i know most kids has a Playstation 2 or a Nintendo GBA (or DS).

I guess those tectoy things are sold to families with small kids, but i never saw one being sold.

Knowing that Tectoy major business is now DVD Players with extra features (games, karaoke), cellphone games distribution and HDTV receptors, i highly doubt that the MegaDrive and Master System are their main products. My guess is that they export more than then sell here.

I doubt they export that many at all, very few sms fans buy the newer models, and I don't know anyone with a Tectoy Megadrive. Plus the whole PAL-M video output only, just through composite, makes it harder to use one. Perhaps there are some PALM regions other than Brazil that get the consoles, but I'ver certainly not noticed the consoles being sold online anywhere that shipped internationally.

I wouldn't count on that. To where are TecToy exporting if everybody outside Brazil can't get one?
According to a recent interview (sorry can't find the link right now), TecToy still sells loads of those consoles.

Latin America perhaps? I read some time ago they exported a lot to the central america and south american countries like venezuela.

Honestly i don't understand how they could sell lots of those things at that prices, specially knowing that poor people buy newer consoles in 12 or even 18 parcels, and then buy pirated games.

It would be interesting to Tectoy to show some numbers. I know they are making a lot of profit with cell games (they are even developing games for it now), but i don't see how the MD and SMS make them profit.

Whys the art in the background have a completely different controller? And why does it look like a pile of white turds? Could it be because it might as well be a pile of turds? White systems don't look good. All black systems look good, like the Genesis Model 1 or the PS2.
