So, I got my donor game today and decided to desolder the cic chip for it to be ready when the Everdrive 64 comes. I have a 25w soldering iron and the problem is that I can't desolder any of the chips on the donor cart. It just doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder. And yes, I did tin it. So is a 25w soldering iron enough, to desolder a cic chip ? Thanks for the help.
If it's not melting the solder then it does not have enough heat capacity. Can you replace the tip with a bigger one?
No I can't. I guess, that I will have to take it to a repair shop for them to do the job for me. No big deal.
