Hi everyone! Just got a top loader Neo Geo CD and want to replace the bios on it The uni bios calls for a 27C400 EPROM but I've seen this replacement CMOS board for AMIGA's http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-GGLA...Kickstart-ROM-27C400-A500-A2000-/401279690063 Is there a reason why this chip would be incompatible with the NEOGEO? Because it would seem a lot neater and cheaper to make a small PCB with castellation's to sit where the original (I'm Assuming) Mask Rom did? http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datash...yRHOIpa/1XXyxeobHMTLpIuLLMaPQ1+/datasheet.pdf http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datash...C/+05J757VYlDawOBDKztNKlKw.DyS+/datasheet.pdf
Don't quote me or anything. But as long as the pinout is the same I dont see why not. Flash the new bios for neo geo ofc.
Pinout doesn't even need to be the same, long as you wire it up correctly. The main difference between chips is the way they are programmed. Reading a parallel chip is basically the same regardless. So yes, it would work. Yes, you would make an adapter pcb. The main issue is, razoola only supports the neobiosmasta and won't sell you the bios file to use in your adapter. If you use the free version for personal use and design your own board - then it will work. I designed one that used a 29f400 a while back, it worked fine but was no point making it due to the above issues about the bios. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dyic67g95m862gt/IMG_20160512_205017.jpg?dl=0
