I bought a Sega digio SJ-1 camera, after checking some Japanese website it became clear that its a pile of crap :smt082 but I didnt buy it for the purpose anyway. Now...check out this website http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/article/960911/digio.htm It seems it is somehow compatible with the Incridibly rare 32X Picture magic board. Anyone has the camera or the board? Interesting..
Wow thats cool.. After some more reading it seems it can also be used (or a least was planned) to operate with Saturn print club. Some more info.. http://homepage1.nifty.com/OGASHIN/DIGIO.htm
Yeah yakumo had one on the old board over a year back it's also in his "day in the life of a gamer vid" It does indeed work with the camera you have and i beleive that yakumo sold his one on ebay and actually was sold quite cheap to a lady who also bought the camera off ebay.
It uses 5 volt SMC's right? I can imagine those being quite hard to come by, in the right size especially.
The 5 Volt smart media cards that the Picture magic uses look just like normal ones but of course don't work The camera was made to go along side the Picture magic I belive. Yyakumo
they always have cool ideas/gadgets but dont really follow through with them i dunno why. they make small numbers of stuff just to show off at shows or something. but that camera has an awesome design to it, imo
Isn't the Picture Magic what the Sega Neptune was to become? I mean it had all the chips from Genesis and 32x on a single board. If so, it should work with regular MD and 32x games, right? If so, all I need is a CDC maching and I might have a dream of mine come true :-D
No it did not. The Picture Magic had a custom genesis-alike and a no-doubt leftover 32X PCB shoved into a case with a touchpad. It doesn't play regular 32X or genesis games - AFAIK the only cart to work with it is the one it was sold with. The 5v SMCards have the opposite bevelled corner than normal ones, it's very difficult to put them into the wrong slot. There was a serial PC link for the Digio camera to transfer your files to a computer. The installer doesn't work with XP, but you can install it and copy the files to an XP box and it will work fine (not that it's really worth the effort or anything). The cameras are real battery whores, and are very low resolution - though they have a very nice LCD screen inside. They're very fun to hand out at a party with instructions to just go nuts with them and pass them around. No one worries about breaking them, and you end up with some strange shots.
Crazy talk. They're about as rare as any other crappy old digital camera. Besides, if you're not buying old game hardware to USE, why are you buying it? And finally, none of my friends get drunk at parties, what kind of winos are you hanging out with?
