"Microsoft will release a Xbox 360 Blue Limited Edition in Japan on April 27, 2006, which will be bundled with EA's 2006 FIFA World Cup. The bundle will include the Xbox 360 console, FIFA faceplate and 2006 FIFA World Cup; only 10,000 units will be manufactured."
So this means all 360 Ltd Eds will just be a standard console, the only Limited thing being the front panel. Hmm, methinks M$ are on to a good one there.
Oh yes, I think the price of Ltd faceplates on Ebay is gonna provide much entertainment. You know there'll be daft things like a Ltd faceplate that's only available from a certain Japanese arcade for a shmup contest highscore, or a fp that there's only 100 of that you win with a 'Golden Ticket' in the game case. They're such easy to make things, they're gonna be knocking them out here, there and everywhere. Something mildy special about this game? Woo, make a fp. I'm sure some fool will attempt a complete fp collection, and I'm sure it'll be an impressive sight.
What strikes me odd is that they're releasing this in Japan of all places (considering the WC is in Germany)... is soccer really that big in Japan?
They like Football in Japan but they sure as hell don't like FIFA when they have Winning Eleven. It just shows how clueless MS are in Japan that they'd actually authorise this as a bundle.
It might very well have something to do with the fact that the FIFA World Cup is organised by FIFA! The Japanese have a fairly good team actually. Much better than the USA anyway ;-) Which reminds me of a problem I face. Will the World Cup be shown in the USA? Anyone know which channel has the rights to show the games? ESPN maybe?
I believe the US and Japan (and the UK if you can believe that) all ranked equally last world cup. The US actually did quite good.
sorry to nitpick, but... I'm guessing you mean england by the UK, as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland didn't qualify, and we play as individual nations in football (excluding olympics) Japan got to the top 16, which isn't bad, but also not that great. Perhaps you are getting Japan and south korea confused (not normally easy) as they were both host nations, and south korea did very well (4th overall) England and the USA both got through to the top 8 (quarter finals) USA did actually do very well, considering how they are generally ranked.
This set will also be sold in Netherland, only we got a different faceplate and we get a voucher for discount for a replica WC Adidas ball. For sale from may 12th.
Looks like the UK and Europe are also getting a Ltd. Ed. World Cup package with this faceplate too. Only difference is, we're getting a Core System instead of the Premium Pack. Nifty way to actually sell some of the rather-pointess-imho Core system. Available 12th May @ £260
Does anyone know about the footy in the USA though? This is a very important piece of information for me :crying:
