I figured I should start posting progress early on so that I don't forget to document something and to get some help with a few suggestions...

This is what I have so far:

Sorry for the blurry picture, my camera is evil.

    This project is simple:

Take an XBox 360 case and use as much of the original chassis and parts as possible to create a pc in its case. I'm going to wire up all the parts that are in the case from the mobo to (hopefully) a mini-itx board. I've already fried a 120gb WD BEV drive trying to correctly solder the hdd header (killed it by putting it in upside down. Thanks MS for not keying that critical piece!). USB, power, and various LEDs and switches will be easy, the hard part is that I want to do all of this while using a standard 203w 360 PSU.

    Limitations:
    *203w max consumption
*Total height including heatsink must NOT rise above ~3.5 inches
*Mobo MUST fit within space given (about 6-7 square inches)
*System must be capable of decoding 1080p video
*Quiet, this thing is going in a living room

Anyone got any suggestions for a mobo/proc combo? Vid cards would have to be onboard or half height. I will be using the original video connector on the 360 for video output and accordingly original 360 video cables. I want this to look like a chipped 360 that runs Windows XP (or a customized Linux distro).

    Possible problems:
    *Air flow is limited
*150w is probably pushing the psu too hard
*Circuit needed to be able to turn on the 360 PSU with pc mobo

For bonus points I'm going to wire an USB 360 wireless receiver so I can still use 360 controllers on it. Even better if I can find a way to light up the front LEDs in the same fashion as a regular 360.

Eh good idea but not what the point of this is. I want to use the original PSU as I absolutely HATE to see a console case mangled with a mobo bracket in the rear and a psu hanging around. I'm after something that looks like a modded 360.

If everything worth doing was easy it would all be done by now.
