probably still going to do bugger all for sales....

    I predict...

Sales for the Xbox 360 this week will drop even further, probably reaching 2,000 tops.

Next week it will peak at 10,000 and probably the following week too.

Then it will go back to 7,000 odd sales a week and Bill Gates won't be sipping Sake any time soon.

LIES! That can't be! The 360s horrible sales these past two weeks can't have anything to do with the shortage of 360s. Its just that everybody REALLY doesn't want Tales of Vesperia, so they're buying even less 360s to spite them. Or something.

    </sarcasm>

    Edit:

On a serious note, showing off Cry On or announcing Blue Dragon 2 (or, please God, Lost Odyssey 2, though Blue Dragon 2 would make more sense in Japan) to go along with the price drop would be teh awesome.

You probably aren't looking hard enough / most shops had a tiny amount of Xbox 360s anyway. The Nintendo Wii is hard enough to find around here, but the Xbox 360 you can fall over.

Lol, with those prices I might just get a japanese 360 for the heck of it, lots of games are regionfree to begin with! Will have to check it out in October...

Yeah, all this means is a better deal for importers!

You can just get the asian releases of non-japanese titles. Having a japanese 360 is probably the only way of playing ALL 360 titles, Japanese and english asian titles. Plus the asian titles are so cheap!

The price drop is just what I was waiting for. Raiden IV, Otomedius G, here I come!

Amazon is already selling the Arcade SKU for (actually under) the new price. Which also means, of course, they have them back in stock. So, the "drought" is officially over too.

About $200 bucks after you figure in Paypal's cut.

With the pound losing over 25 yen in the last month it won't be long before the exchange rate kills the discount...

Most of the shops around my way have put up Out of Stock signs, although it seems this is because they have been asked to not sell any units until the new price comes into effect.

I've found one second hand Premium at Shibuya's Book Off, also have Elites, or they haven't placed the "sold out" sticker on the box; so the rumour is false XD

Flame me for bumping an old thread but here's a small update:

I ordered an Arcade unit at Amazon.jp about 10 days ago because they had the best price (around 18,200). They have been sold out there for about two weeks now, way past the official price drop date.

At the local Book-Off where they always used to have two or three used ones, the shelf space is now occupied by a boxed Super Scope.

So it seems they are indeed a bit hard to find now.

It seems to be harder and harder to find them now, although it still seems like a Microsoft plot to grab headlines "OMG Xbox Sold out in JAPAN!!111!!" as I can't believe that Microsoft would be stupid enough to have enough machines to go around, no one thought "Hey we sold a lot of machines when Blue Dragon / Ace Combat came out, do you think we should reorder them in again just to make sure we have some stock as this latest RPG is getting so much coverage and pre-orders?".

By selling the machies out then bring a lot ot stock back in, maybe they want to have one headline that says "XBOX 360 OUTSELLS WII IN JAPAN, NINTENDO IS TEH D00MED!!!!111!!!" when the Xbox sells a lot in a week before going back to their normal 4,000 machines a week.
