well heres the problem, they rushed this launch, and they are doing it at the very last minute, not only that but the world wide launch is causing problems, belive me if they did it like you are suppose to, there would be a better chance of getting a 360, but trust me im shocked they are even pulling it off the way they are, they really should of waited till japan had a decent list, in fact from the looks of it their just focused on the us market while trying to get their foot in foreign countrys, belive me the way tis going they want to sell ALOT more atm, but its due to thier last minute timing as well as trying to be revoloutionary with a close launch in other countries, if it was done like it was suppose to, there wouldnt be these problems, im shocked as hell that its easyer to get a core compared to a prium since alot of stores have the core more in stock then the primium.
Think about it. MS wouldn't dare release them in after Christmas shopping season, they would lose out big time. Every parent who wants to avoid having to go to a nursing home because their kid wasn't "loved" enough (spoiled actually) is buying an Xbox360, so that their child can brag about it after xmas break and be the cool kid for a while. I don't think MS is that stupid to loose out on soo much money.
Aren't they selling them at a loss though? (Just like the old XBox) I still think it's more about publicity. Trickle a few out and make people snap them up as soon as they can.
They lose approximately $126 per unit if I remember correctly, but as long as they are being sold they only lose $126, not the $526 it costs to produce it.
