I have a few what I believe to be xbox 360 test kits. They have wires coming out for sidecar and holes in side cut out and covered with clear plastic. I do not have sidecars or hdds. When I try to turn them on they power on and I hear the fans running but no audio or video. It is the same for all 3 that I have. I have tried different av cables and my TV works fine. They do not have hdmi outputs. I took them to a locally owned games tore and the guy turned them on while holding down the button and said they don't have any error codes. I would really like to get these up and running. Any and all help is appreciated.
Pictures would help immensely my good sir. Anywhoo they should work fine even without the sidecars so there might be something wrong internally like a loose cable or something.
I'll take some pics this evening when I get home. I also thought something maybe wrong internally but thought it was really odd to happen with all 3 of them.
Considering that the sidecars are not supposed to be removed on those older units then whoever took them off might have messed up something? IDK just a thought. EDIT: That or the flash is messed up, Try running a disk based recovery and see if that works?
IDK my idea was to just try and blindly go through it but maybe a remote recovery would be a better idea. Actually since they do power on do they show up in the Xbox 360 Neighborhood?
Its a way of accessing the file system of a test or Dev system, It is included with the SDK. If the system appears there and you can access it then that means it should be working so it would indicate that maybe the only problem is the A/V.
You would first need the Xbox 360 SDK which afaik I can not link it but they are not all that hard to find. Once you have that and you have installed it a "Xbox 360 Neighborhood" icon will be on your desktop, Just start it up and it will ask for the IP or name of the system which might be a tad tricky to find since you can't see it but the IP should be somewhere in your router's logs but good luck finding it. once connected tho its just like any other storage connected to the PC. I realized while typing this that it's not all that easy to check without knowing the name or IP of the system sooo.... yea....
Reminds me of this unit Like everyone else images would be nice. Also did he hold down the sync button and click the eject button 4 times?
Yes, I believe he did something like that.. he was checking for error codes on the ring I think, not exactly sure but he said there was no error codes I know.
I was wrong about the possible sidecar removal damage cause clearly that thing never had anything attached to it. Well does anyone know what chip that is? I'd assume the hole is for quick access to it.
if its the same chip (check the "codes" on the ic) TwoPhase PWM Controller http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/NCP5331-D.PDF Hardware testing fase?. (I used this source: http://psx-scene.com/tmp/psx-scene/pictures/r6t3.jpg)
