Any of you have an idea how I can fix this? She's taken apart and sitting on my lap.
FYI the DVD Drive is sticking out the front of the faceplate and won't open.

You can't really see it in the photo, but the DVD Drive is completely sticking out the top.
Are there different sizes for DVD Drives?

When I hit the eject button (without the faceplate directly on top) it still won't open, but communicates with the Xbox 360

Does the drive open a little or does nothing at all?

Nothing at all. I've taken the faceplate off to do it.
It says "Reading Disc" and "Opening Tray" etc. on the dashboard when I press the button, but the actual DVD Drive is too big for the Xbox.
    I don't even know why.

Have you opened the drive up to see if maybe the tray is not in right. I had one with the same kind of problem and the tray just was not on track and the I guess you can call it stopper around the front on the drive was pulled in under the drive like pinched in side.

I had to pull off the foam from around the tray pulled that off then popped the top opened to see if something is stuck or off track. Just pull the foam off and slide the top half off. Hook the drive back up and try to eject again. If nothing happens maybe the drive is just no good.
