It would be more useful if somebody started making full console housings for older consoles. There would still be buyers for Gamecube housings ( compatible with DVD's) and OG Xbox housing with a place for LCD's, that would be cool.
I think there is a seller on ebay who is selling 3d printed N64 expansion slot covers.
Unfortunetly 3d printing is quite expensive, but it's still much cheaper than 3-4 years ago when 3d printing first appeared.

Damm.... you got me... do we have 3d files for just the front ? I have access to a 3d printer (not the best one in this scale, but mini versions it can do.

If you have a .SCAD file or can make one that we can also easely edit(and please, in Milimeter style) I can print one. Else I have to put this on the "I really should make this" list.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:189071 (hate thingiverse, but hey, they got lots of awesome files)
EDIT: found this: https://grabcad.com/library/xbox--1 dont know if its legal or not, but gonna check the file against my xbox soonish
(its stl alright, but hard to edit im affraid, already trying)
(hope you can see the picture)

I find this pretty lame. There's been keychains of consoles for a while, so this isn't really anything amazing either :|

Your very much right (one of the first things i bought after I got my xbox when I was on vacation in Germany, was buying a miniature xbox led light key-chain. still have that one)

3d files, and better, 3d files of the actual case parts should be awesome to do case mods and other hacks. transparent cases?

NOW if say you were 3d printing a Raspberry pi case for an emulation machine............that would be impressive.

I'm guessing within the next 5-10 years 3D printing is going to get really good and really cheap. I mean look at regular printers. 25 years ago they were slow dot-matrix machines that would take hours to print out something like a term paper. Then there were massive expensive laser printers and big expensive inkjets in the 90s, and now you get an all-in-one free with your computer.

I think someone has one, depending on what you're looking for.

They're cute but the print quality is terrible. Hopefully they can sell enough to justify using a better printer.

I used to live a few miles from 3D systems original HQ. 30+ years ago when 3d printing first appeared
