I've got an FZ-10, new old stock that ended up in a pawn shop somehow before I bought it. I'll admit up front that the idea of porn on a game console is what got my attention at first, although all the games in that category are FMV click-through games with no other entertainment value. Come to think of it, that description applies to the non-porn FMV games too. I've enjoyed some of the exclusive RPGs that showed up on the console, although it turns out some of them were PC ports. Lucienne's Quest is an example of a nice Final Fantasy-type RPG with strategic combat on a grid not unlike Ultima V, and surprisingly well done 3D graphics. Dragon Lore is a first-person game not unlike the Elder Scrolls series, and Guardian War is a nice tactical game a la Shining Force. I was also really surprised to see so many licensed Dungeons and Dragons games, although most of them are random dungeon Rogue-likes that aren't very entertaining. One game in particular that stands out in my mind is CPU Bach, which is Sid Meier's random music generator. It's not really a traditional game so much as it is an input panel that produces musically correct Baroque pieces for piano and/or orchestra. The rumor is that Sid programmed it for the 3DO instead of the PC because he didn't see a future in the Soundblaster technology. At the time, who knew? Probably the main reason to own any 3DO is for three games: Return Fire, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Star Control II. Yes, these are all available on other platforms, but the 3DO versions are arguably the best home console conversions of their time. That rendition of Street Fighter was good enough that Capcom bothered with a custom 3DO controller with six custom mapped action buttons in the right configuration.
Well, that's not entirely accurate. I've been collecting everything 3DO for about 7 years now (I'm also one of the suckers that bought the system new, though not at the $699 price point) and if there is one thing I realize that I will probably never be able to say it's that I have the entire library. Sure, it's easy enough to obtain an entire US release library as it's generally understood how many games were released in that region. The same cannot be said for Japan, Korea, or even Europe. Every time I think that I have rounded up every game released (and otherwise) something new will pop up that I haven't seen before. I just recently started sorting though my 3DO collection. Here is a pic of the US released long boxed games. There are duplicates pictured, because as I said I just started going through my collection and also because some are factory sealed and some are cover art variations. I'm almost ashamed to say that this makes up only a small portion of my 3DO collection and it isn't even all of my US long boxed games
That's freakin' awsome! as a 3DO fan I would like to see you post your whole collection (hw too) one day
