Sony is selling the thing at $199, don't know if you have to sign up for a dataplan or not but its obvious its doing this to axe the 3G version. Before launch I though it would be neat to use it as a cheap smartphone but with the lack of killer apt games and that terrible OS I rather pass, besides unlocked smartphones have gone down in price a lot since then. So anyone getting it? or better wait for the regular vita firesale?
I'd just wait for the regular Vita firesale, considering that the 3G isn't too useful in my opinion. I haven't seen a really good online title so far, or at least I haven't played any that I'd like to be able to play on the go (and pay for the data). My Wifi only unit is perfectly OK for me. Prove me wrong about online titles though, I'd like to know if something good is out/coming out.
Nah, not another data plan for me thanks I love my Wifi Vita, I'm not big on online games apart from Ridge Racer as it's asynchronous, so no troll that insults me fits me well!!! I think the OS is great, bit messy at first but good after 15 minutes, lots of good games on the Vita, it had quite a good line up to start with. But yes we need the 2nd wave of titles and no Resident Evil Revelations because according to Capcom, it's not the right platform, well that's just bullshit.
"Vita's not the right platform" is pretty obvious PR speak for "We're not porting it because the Vita has sold badly"
Vita: No because of the bullshit $99 32gb memory card. I can get 32gb usb stick for $17. Fuck you sony.
There maybe an adaptor to take micro sd's one day. I am sure the chinese will come up with something.
I await the day. I don't like the Vita's OS in the sense that it's a lot like IOS- not much for app organization, and all your apps must be on the home screens. I'd much prefer if you could have certain apps displayed and others in a drawer. Also, it'd be nice of the settings wasn't a separate app too. Gets annoying when switching settings.
Agreed iOS is a bit messy and so is the Vita OS in that context, best way I found around that is to limit the number of apps I use. It may sounds weird but there are only a few apps I use on a regular basis, the rest is just sitting there really. On the Vita at least it forces me to finish games
They can take their over priced hardware (Sony branded mem cards ect) and DRM and shove it up their collective arses, no I won't be buying one. If I had kids they wouldn't be getting one ether.
I'll only get a brand new one once they become dirt cheap. And I would probably get it off of ebay since Sony doesn't deserve my money out right.
Wow It's $250+ for the Wifi Version and nearly $400 for the 3G one here in Oz at the moment though I did read somewhere the wifi ones dropped to $200. And our dollar is better than the US so technically they should be cheaper (go figure)
What a bad topic. It seems Sony Style stores in the USA are ditching 3G Vitas and selling them off for $200 in store (but not through website). One of the bundles included on this is the 3G pack that included 2 sony games (digitally) and a 8GB memory card. Over all there is a good chance vita is getting a price drop in USA between now and e3 to $200 from $250. -edit- If you were ever good at catching sales. Quite often in USA & Canada stores have put the Call of Duty or Assasins Creed bundles on sale for $200 as well (so sys, 4GB and the above mention game).
Only game I want on the Vita is Uncharted, I don't see the point. It might make a good emulation machine in the future but until the price drops right down I won't be buying this system.
