I have a 64MB Memory card for the PS2, yet I've seen some as large as 128MB.. Playstation 2 saves can be fairly large. 8MB just doesn't cut it really..

That would be neat but I think magnetism would be hard to do well. Likewise a rewritable disc area might be difficult too (using RW technology) but it would have been interesting. But ultimately Memory Cards are the way to go. They certainly were nice during the period of time that Video Game rentals were popular. No more losing your save games when you return it to the store.

I do not understand what you are trying to say here.

Datel sold 64 MB cards too. But as stated in my previous post, 128 MB is the largest one sold, although it is a Chinese knockoff. And it works as expected, as long as you are lucky and purchase one that works at all times.

I described my experience with the 128 MB in my previous post; my first one would not always work, but the one that I bought last year works perfectly other than the rather slow speed and a few incompatible games. I have some games with saves of almost 2 MB, but I just use a virtual memory card for most of my saves in OPL, and save the few incompatible games on my official 8 MB card. So the only use that I have for such a large card is for Free McBoot/homebrew.

I have Nyko's 128mb memory card for Gamecube / Wii. It's actually a regular oversized memory card, without any switches or buttons. I've been using it for almost seven years with no any issues at all.

www.dx.com also sells PS2 large memory cards, including a 64mb one. Older batches (namely the 128mb model) were corrupt/had wrong sizes, however newer ones work fine. Disappointingly, they're not magicgate compatible.

That's another reason I like the Max Memory cards - the GateCrasher chip makes that a non-issue :p

I've never seen the 64MB Max Memory cards in my area at retail, if they'd been here in the past I'd probably have gotten one of them instead of a 16MB. Bought my 16MB in October 2006, when I bought my PS2 a month before Guitar Hero II came out. Five and a half years later and the only issue I've had was a one-time corruption of my FMCB installation (but I suspect that was due to a friend fucking up my install, rather than any issue with the card itself).
