The research looks sound until tries to equate human vision to a 90 degree by 90 degree scene. Sure, the math looks fine to translate that scene into 576 MP if it were entirely transversed by the eye (i.e. moving across the screen in a scanline manner). The problem is humans do not, and cannot, focus on the entire scene at once. The actual area of focus, which would have the highest resolution, would be considerably smaller than that.
