64 drive requests and bug reports So as not to clutter up the 64 drive thread: 1. Fan art, or individual cartridge pics when selecting games. ( The only functionality I need). Although icing on the cake would be background mp3's for each game when selecting. 2. Implement that hardware avc decoder and we'll be all set.( as per arbingordon) Isn't n64 supposed to play n64 games? Although having in game previews would be choice, when selecting games. 3. 16gb pny class 4 micro sdhc's don't work (might be important to somebody) 4. 1.06+ to have force region turned back on. (as per Lady Eklipse) 5. Small glitch I found in 1.06. I had text size as small and selected regular. Instead of switching the size both buttons were pressed and it stayed as small.(as per MasterOfPuppets) 6. Game shark compatibility, or GS code compatibility would be choice!! 7. Shortcut system, the ability to have multiple shortcuts point to 1 v64 file.
The same glitch remains for "Force region" buttons: if I press "NTSC", it works, but the second time after I reset the console both buttons appear as pressed. Fixed in the same version by Marshallh.
It would be, but the GS for the N64 is kind of complicated, and uses quite a few tricks. I believe that marshallh said it was possible, but you could probably write a book on all the "tricks" it uses. I don't believe I've shut up about this feature either, so hopefully he'll implement it or something similar.
A shortcut system would be amazing too! If you could make a file called "n64demo.short" that pointed to "n64demo.v64" that would be awesome. If it would be hard to have it "search for a rom", you could just make the requirement for the rom to be in root. This would be awesome for categorizing roms in folders.
Not terribly realistic IMO. I'm not privvy to the specs off hand but I'd imagine the lag time for loading the mp3 might be enough that, unless you hover over the image long enough, it wouldn't be worth even starting to play that mp3. I'd wager that 99.9% of the time you know what game you're after and additional music wouldn't help that much overall nor can I think of anything beyond "why". Box art would help seeing as text on a screen is usually a bit of a PITA to read. Especially if you're like me and need glasses to resolve fine details at distance. Box art works well for that.
if you want boxart and all that, why not just buy a NeoMyth 64? Honestly, I don't want any of that junk.... and MP3s autoplaying? no thanks
The Neocrap64 is well, crap. It's poorly made, you have to buy various accessories to use flash memory, it's overpriced, and it's just utter complete crap. The N64 isn't a Wii.
To be clear here: that is an ongoing joke from #n64dev, parodying all the feature requests the release of 64drive will generate. Case and point.... this thread.
