Unfortunatly, the sarcastic tone of the article with no mention of it anywhere else in the actual interview makes it sound like a joke. Also, when was this article published? It seems a bit old to use the 2005 E3 concept art.
Thats like 48 movies rolled into one almost. I hope its a joke. I'd rather play for 72 hours than watch.
Doubt it's true, there's no mention on google and there would be if it was confirmed. Besides that, I wouldn't be interested in a game with 72 hours of cutscenes. That'd have to be getting in the way of gameplay.
I wish it was true, MGS games are always epic. The gameplay more than makes up for the story sequences imo. Then again Im big on story in a game Edit: That had to be a joke the way it was put in there. Also this has to be new: - MGS4 character will travel around the world as the story progresses - Possible slip that its 20 years past MGS2 Edit 2: Ok, somewhat new. Before E3 yes, as they are still in the dark as to the camo system.
72 Hours of cutscenes = 10 Hours of gameplay? Ass a comparison, all the 6 Star Wars Movies dont reach even 20-25 Hours of playing...sounds a lot just like "hot vapor" to me.
Hideo wanted it to be like a movie, so now it is, nothing but cutscene after cutscene. THe gameplay will probably be equivelant to an interactive DVD menu
theres no way it can have 72 hours of it all. Where would be the space for the game and when the fuck would you get to actually play?
Am I the only one who wasnt a huge fan of MGS2 and 3? MGS2 had such an over-the-top storyline and the amount of cliches just really put me off (c'mon,an elitist group of Americans who break the law for "patriotism"?) The gameplay itself was fantastic though, just not very much of it :|
It's not that bad, as long as the english-voices arent as cheesy as in MGS3 and the story keeps it's serious side (the trailer in E3 was like Iraq 10 years from now if you ask me) then it's OK. After all, Conker BFD has like 6 or 7 hours of the funniest cutscenes ever. A lot for that time and even more if you think it was a N64 cartridge.
Maybe they're just counting all the different camera angles of the same cutscene and adding them up. ;-)
