Yup. Using my PCE in a 120 volt country with a japanese 110 volt adapter. No problems yet.

I've had to change my SNes (american!) adapter more often (Once)

So I say it's pretty safe.

Maybe - it's just what it says on the back of the plugs, like how it says 240V on the modern rectangular-pin ones. Even on new old plugs (yes, if you look hard enough in some hardware shops, they still sell them!) they say 250V.

Oh yeah, and the amperage will be proportional to what we use anyway - 220V stuff usually uses about half the current of 110V devices, so that wouldn't make much sense in it being cheaper. I'm confused now - maybe they were just trying to be different...

Am I the only person here who actually unplugs adapters when I'm not using them? It seems like the logical thing to do, especially since they get hot even when doing nothing, and make that annoying buzzing...

My adapters don't make an annoying buzzing. The adapters are hot due to the capacitance, it's not a terrible waste of energy.

Oh BTW, depending on the resistance of the line, it may be more efficient to use 110/220v. But since you pay per kWh or something, I have no clue how it's divided. Just know you guys across the pond pay too much for everything with your fancy sterling :)
