    Hi folks,

I have three questions for you. During christmas time, I was at my brother's and I bring my original xbox with me. So as we played game on my xbox, my brother almost immediately fell in love with this old timer. So I told that I was going to give him one for his birthday. I want to make sure that his original xbox will last for long. So my plan is to buy an original xbox off site like kijiji (canadian equivalent of kijiji) and make a complete restore. By restoring I mean a real one not just cleaning the dust and replacing the clock capacitor, I mean replacing all capacitors with new ones and replacing the HDD with a new one.

My first question is: Do you have any idea about the rated temperature of the original xbox capacitors? Were they 85C or higher rated temperature? I plan on buying Nichicon and Panasonic capacitors.

My second question is : I want to add a vga port to his console, I know that revision 1.6 won't support vga. I know that you have to flash the TSOP with a vga proof bios. Once the TSOP has been flashed, Do you need to install games on the HDD as the ps2 to play in VGA mode or you just pop game in and you are good to go?

My third question is : Are aluminum capacitors( the small gray one) worth getting change too? Are they prone to leak as easily as the regular electrolytic capacitors?

I don't plan to add a modchip or softmodding the console. We are not very much in piracy, we like to hunt for original games.

I have enough experience with electronics to perform this easily. If any word doesn't make any sense you can thank the french auto correcting spelling.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

If you want to do a complete restore, don't forget to replace the original thermal paste.
On my 1.6 it was extremely hard and cracked and replacing it gave a much better temperature ( Although as you know 1.6 Xboxes never give an accurate temp reading )
