I got a everdrive md of ebay very cheap but the firmware is v4 I can not get cd bioses to work it just says this hard ware is the wrong region and a lot of us roms just say its meant for a ntsc console. Also putting the latest os on the card broke it but thanks to the makers post on his board got it back to v23 and its working again. I have bougth a mega everdrive from on of the uk stockists on the website will that do what my v4 cant do. I have also pre ordered a sd2snes from another of the stockists on the website its going to be at least three weeks but would like to know if super Mario rpg will work with it have it on wii but be nice to know if it would work with the cart. thanks mike uk
Um, which are we talking about here? The firmware or the OS on the cart? They are two different things.
firmware I think I have an old cart I can`t update os past v23 and hopeing new mega everdrive will allow me to play us cds on my pal cd
I'm assuming you are aware the firmware (not to be confused with the operating system) on a Everdrive-MD can only be updated using a special JTAG cable, so I won't explain how to do that. CD BIOS support is not available on that firmware, which is why you are having issues. On the PCB somewhere, you should be able to find a 'revision number' (it'll say something like 'Rev 1.0' or 'Rev 2.5' or something). If it's below Rev 2.1, you will probably have issues past version 4 of the OS, especially re: Mega CD support. Also, be aware that there are Chinese knockoff Everdrives floating around eBay (which are unsupported by Krikzz), so make sure it looks like one of the boards here: http://krikzz.com/index.php?route=common/home The Mega Everdrive should do what you want, though - so good luck! In regards to the Super Mario RPG on the SD2SNES - it's not supported yet. 2 days ago, ikari (the creator of SD2SNES) said: ... so fingers crossed on that. You can check on status on the SD2SNES here (you're looking out for SA-1 support, which is what Super Mario RPG uses) : http://sd2snes.de/blog/status
Thanks for your reply recived my mega everdrive today and everythink is perfect. Looked at my old everdrive-md it say rev 2.1 so just put that down to experance.
mega cd has two layers of region lock. They check the attached megadrive, and the game disc inserted. When either is wrong expect an error message. Loading a cd bios gets around that part. The megadrive side determines 50hz or 60hz. if you run us cds right now they should be playing too slow.
