I was a bit skeptical with the announcement yesterday. But this trailer is awesome! I love the original so much. The campain was awesome and multiplayer was a blast. Confusingly they're still around. Two of them. The original company began using 3D Realms years ago, but never had a legal name change. A new company now markets the Apogee name.
Yeah, some random company bought the rights to use the name. It was great and nostalgic to see the logo and hear the music again. Not expecting much from this game though: the trailer does make it look awesome, but so did the trailer for Duke Nukem Forever.
Am I the only one that thinks the original RoTT was very ordinary? RoTT was to Doom as Mortal Kombat was to SF2.
Both were great games. Doom had a darker atmosphere. ROTT was more funny and had a better multiplayer experience. Also, had a lot of cool features not present in Doom.
Duke Nukem Forever was decent, not amazing by all means but it was pretty much exactly what it was meant to be although i've only played the pc version. new ROTT game haha quality will need to play this when its out. might get the original and give it play through too
It was godawful, basically they managed to put together all the worst parts from old and new FPSs. Not the mention the outdated and bad humor, including a tasteless rape joke.
its duke nukem, its meant to have outdated bad humor and tasteless jokes. although admittedly i havnt played all the way through it yet, but what were you expection? serious and quality voice acting, deep and intelligent plot and storyline and diverse puzzle solving gameplay?
I was expecting it to be fun to play, and it wasn't. It would've been a lot more fun if they had done some simple changes like forgetting about the regenerating health and allowing you to carry more than two weapons. Outdated humor wouldn't be so bad if it was just references to old action movies, but an Olsen twins joke in 2011 is outdated in the bad way. Duke 3D may have had some tasteless humor in it, but it sure as hell didn't have jokes about women being raped.
