http://forums.lostlevels.org/viewtopic.php?p=11801&sid=0cededca64f1b42fb5d591ee12f7d83f the poster has done his research, nice when there's a good amount of info accumulated on anything rare or obscure. looks bloody awesome.
Wow...!! Nice find and I'm really suprised all this info just popped outta nowhere. Lol I love the quote from the fourm "the Japanese proto-collecting scene actually eclipses its Western cousin in terms of hoarding and bitterness" hahaha
Thought I'd share those bits of info even if it isn't much: A Japanese guy claims on his web site that he has played a demo of the game that was on a demo compilation for shop use around the time the PS was released. It can't have been "PurePure" as he says though as the only information I found on those says the first one came out in 1995 and there is no Bounty Arms to be found on these. Anyone willing to track down early (1994) japanese PS demo compilations?
I recently found a preview of the game in a magazine. Gonna scan it later (a cellphone shot of the double page feature can be seen in the post I've made over on LostLevels) And okay, so the site mentions that the demo was not on a PlayPlay... Maybe it was a Hyper Playstation (RE-MIX) disc ? or evt. a Playstation D## ? (Dengeki Playstation, or something like that) I've got complete sets of quite a lot of magazine demo discs, but I'm missing the first two RE-MIX discs and I'm also missing quite a lot of the early Playstation D## discs (+some random discs here and there). When time allows for it, I'll be going through all of them...
No, actually he said that it was on a "PlayPlay". My sentence was not clear. I just thought that he might be wrong. The other site that lists the contents of almost all PlayPlay demos does not mention the game anywhere. Also the entry on the first site is from 2000 and he said he played the demo (a shop demo btw) some time after the initial PS release (1994, early 1995?). Maybe he didn't remember it correctly. But that's just what I thought. Would be great if you'd check your demos.
what do you mean? not that you located the demo right? there's always a chance the guy claiming he played it is lying. maybe you'd rather not go with this, but atleast take it into account.
I'm bumping this thread with some good news: I found the Bounty Arms demo. Turns out it was on an early Demo Demo PlayStation disc! You can get it here, in the last paragraph of that stupidly long post. Special thanks should be directed to Carnivol, who helped me rip the disc and separated the demo so you don't have to download the entire Demo Demo volume. The demo's just a part of the first level and the characters don't take damage, but I've had fun with it. Too bad the rest of the game might be lost.
This topic is quite old, still, it shows that it may take years to come to a result. Demo Demo ... that reminds me of something... maybe I already came across that disc, who knows? Anyway, nice find Now i've yet to play the demo ^^
It is pretty cool after waiting such a long time something came of it. If only that'd happen more often
That's really great news. Congratulations on tracking down the DemoDemo disc. They are quite hard to come by.
The demo is amazingly barebones for being a demo that was publicly available. By the way; can we make a topic where we vote for who devilredeemed should try to kill before he gets to download and play the demo?
man, it's awesome to see that you didn't give up in five years to finally find what you were looking for ! nice job chap !
