Since you guys know a crapoton more about computer hardware and peripherals than I do, I figure I'll ask you guys for your opinions :)

Well, the Wii U lacks a built in streaming program unlike the PS4 and the XB1, and since I do play a lot of games over the video feeds out there, I'm looking for a viable program that would allow me to do so. Unfortunately, I've always relied on either built in software or Open Broadcast Software on my computer to do streaming. So my question to all of you guys is, what is a good way to stream online while playing games on the Wii U? Is there a way to hook it up to go through my PC so that I may utilize my current OBS software? Is there a better program out there that I could use (as OBS doesnt save videos with audio anymore for some reason, only streams the audio) that would allow me to achieve this?

I've seen a few programs online, but I'm not sure which ones are reliable or safe to use, as the last thing I need right now is my hard drive completely dying on me due to a bit of malicious software. So I figure at least one of you guys would know a better option :)

To stream the Wii U (and most other consoles that don't have built in streaming options, like... every other console) is to use an external piece of hardware like the Elgato Game Capture HD or the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro or and internal card such as AVerMedia: Live Gamer HD (C985). There are of course other equipment, but this is generally what you need. I personally have an Elgato Game Capture HD. It has software that comes with it for streaming, and can be used with other software (I'm 99% sure it works with OBS).

One other thing you need to be aware of is that you can't capture the gamepad directly, at least, not without some kind of mod. Only way I can imagine to capture the gamepad (without spending loads on modding it) is with a webcam.

    Hope this helps.

It definitely does. I appreciate the info!

Like with the DS/3DS, the dual screens makes things a bit tricky. But, 99% of the time, the things on the touch pad aren't really necessary to put on a good stream.

I swear, if Nintendo made a 2DS adapter for the Wii U, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Recording footage off my system just seems so ghetto.

Yea. While they did take a good step forward with Mario Kart, the online limitations of Smash Bros really feels like they are right back where they started. It seems one dev team actually understands that game streaming is gaining popularity, while the other just doesn't get it.
