I don't know, though. The Power Glove does have a very bad rep, even if it does also have tons of retro-chic. It would make the system too gimicky, they're supposed to have controllers after all - at least in the public mind. But it's supposed to be something wildly different from everyone else's console. We've seen PS3's ugly controllers, and the X360s, right? They're pretty much the same as old controllers. The revolution now has to be different from that. How? We will find out eventually. I still hope it'll be the TS thing, cos that'll rock my socks off. However, whatever it ends up being, it had better damn well be revolutionary, or else they might be looking at a serious asskicking from the market. ... and from me.
Too late: even back in home nintendo isnt goin too well in the polls. Most japanese ppl are as exited with the revo as with the X360 And we know how japanese loves the Xbox :-D
Oh, but things can change. That's the good thing about making market predictions. For example, once the hefty pricetag of the Sony PS3 makes the sales collapse, under a weak economy, it might be a duel between the american 360 and the Japanese Revo. Sounds plausible too, doesn't it? We don't know yet. It's exciting and I wouldn't bet on anyone. I'm bitter about PS2 so I have my personal reasons for being very happy if the PS3 tanks (it's not likely to, though), but if it's a great machine, then I hope it succeeds. Same with the other two. Who knows, the controller might even be comfortable... somehow. I'm itching with excitement over Nintendo Revolution, though. So I'll be VERY disappointed if it's not revolutionary at all. They're taking a huge risk - now, what you say in the polls would be part of this risk - and sooner or later we'll see if it was worth it.
yeah, but unless nintendo changed all those questioned aspecs of the revo the poll aint goin to get any better. And about PS3, i dont think that ppl is goin to buy the revo (that may be only 50% the price tag of the PS3) just for that. Nintendo had made it clear: the catalog is goin to be mostly 1st party titles (that like the GC wont be more than 20) and old downloable games. The "brodway and hollywood" seems to be only a revision of the actual GCs arquitecture (not like the other new consoles that sports multiple CPUs) and nintendo already said that it wont be as powerfull as the other 2 consoles. That just scares away all the "i love eye candy" consummer, that arent just a little share of the market :no If they are goin to do something, they better do it now...........
I'm not saying they're gonna buy the revo because PS3 is expensive. I'm saying PS3 might be out of the budget if they go overboard with the price. Whatever they buy with their money... who knows. But if PS3 doesn't offer the consumer a decent ROI, there might be serious insatisfaction. Once again, both you and I are speculating. Who knows if one of nintendo's first party titles is a Final Fantasy Caliber Killer App that sells you the system, or maybe you're right and it's gonna tank. I'm just recommending not to cross it out immediately. Things are still on the air, sir.
nintendo never said their next console would be mostly 1st pary games. in fact, they said they wanted to seduce 3rd parties.
Anyways, theres a little chance that the revo may take over the market. You see, even when X360 is goin for 299$ most publishers already conclude that the price on console games can no longer mantain the increasing development costs. Thus this generation we are goin to see games goin to 60 and 70 bucks. Now, most ppl find already difficult to pay 50 bucks a game, let alone 70$. If nintendo comes to the market with a console that is 3 or 4 times the Xbox, but not as expensive to programate as the X360 and PS3, the games for the revo may stay in the 50$. You may be thinkin "but ppl dont care, they are here for the eye candy" Well, after the sell-a-thon of the PS2 launch in america the DC went for as little as 99$, and suddenly everyone was buyin the DC becos it gave you the same (at that time) that the PS2 but for a lot less. The same scenario but with the revo. The only thing that nintendo has to do is be more open with 3rd parties, and give away some DevKits :smt023
Nintendo only need hype, and they already got it. Ps2 succeded over the dreamcast because of the hype. If nintendo had no hype, we wouldn't be trying to figure what is so ''revolutioning'' about their controller, which will be an clone of the original colecovision pad by the way. The end. Everyone's happy happy, HAPPY. nah, seriously, i think nintendo will win more points in the next great war. and i predict that sony will loose some points at the same time. nintendo is slowly losing their ''kiddie'' factor from the public perspective. (in fact, i see 8 year old kids interested in the cube now. smt082) (you know kids think zelda tww looks kiddy, and that they all play GTA because it's so cooooool and because their friends playing it, kids are insecure about their ages (wtf?!)) )
I say hype simply evaporated after the E3. Ppl was expecting the revolution, and they are feed this "march 2007" crap. Only high level gamers (like us ) keep talking about the revo PD: and nintenders :smt082
I think both of you are actually right. JTI2K has a pretty good understanding of many market factors, and cahaz has a pretty good understanding of other factors. We simply cannot predict what would happen, but in a number of scenarios there are different outcomes. There could be the PS3 is too expensive and sucks scenario, the Revolution sucks more than PS3 scenario, the Revolution is cheap and great scenario, the X360 rocks more than the other two consoles scenario, the PS3 is superior but Revolution has more hype scenario (or viceversa), and so on. There are even a lot of factors we aren't considering because we don't know of them yet. It's going to be an interesting match to see. Hell, it's ALREADY interesting. Oh, and ColecoVision rocks, I hope they really clone the pad!
