It needs to have the sidecar ports / cables this is best identified on Development and Demo kits, other kits do not have these standard ports contact your seller ask him what type of kit it is, if an incorrect kit type is delivered other than Dev/Demo and assuming you use paypal and didn't gift the seller the money, then you are entitled to full money back under grounds of false advertisement, paypal will ask no questions.

PS: This is the correct section.

Dev/Test have the ports, demo kits for the most part do not.

Old Xenon Demo kits usually have the port's
as where newer Zepher+ have all the ports but the power port
(extra volts with 213W psu to power sidecar,if you had time you could easily make the port)

Reviewer kits do not have any of the ports

These would all be things that usually have the ports available.

I remember a member here soldered on the cables directly to the motherboard and it worked fine.

Basically a dev kit. You can poke memory is one of the main differences.

Solder is the magic that makes many things work. :)

Pretty sure Stress Test boxes aren't made to be developed on. I believe they're simply to literally 'stress test' the motherboard/hardware revision to make sure it's going to work before going public. I'm sure they've got some large 360 farms set up while stressing the hardware, as they've got the PIX cables hanging out the top which gives direct access to how the CPU/GPU is doing. I'm sure they plug all these things in to collect an analyze how the hardware is coping.

But with that, ST boxes can do anything and everything a development kit can do as they've got all debug options open to them(afaik). Probably made that way so MS can milk as much information out of them while testing.

Demo kits were later replaced by stress test kits if I remember right, almost the exact same thing. Also solder can do the trick, It just doesn't seem practical for a kit that really wasn't meant for a sidecar.

What? Seriously? They were 2 completely different consoles. Stress Tests were only to test the hardware, they weren't meant to be released to game studios, where as demo kits serve a purpose to either use on shows, or simply give out to game companies. Stress kits I don't think ever left microsoft

    What Leo said is correct.

Not sure where you're getting the idea that Demo and Stress are anywhere near the same purpose sondow.

That's not a Stress Test box wasabi.

    -Doom

Edit:And what Leo meant was ST boxes were never MEANT to leave Microsoft. Like for trade shows, or to studios. They were only meant for MS to personally test the hardware revisions themselves to help further develop the xbox.

I know bungie has/had stress test machines (it was on an xbox video from them before halo 3's release), and they had hundreds of them in the room, being used to test the code and game for bugs all running for weeks at a time. But as bungie are basically a part of MS now it doesn't suprise me that they had them.

Pretty sure I know what video you're talking about, but those were all development kits. I can't seem to find the video right now, but I think those were the kits all the developers used in the studio.

    Ah.
I saw it on the xbox from their interview thing.
But they had literally 100s of them, maybe sourced from demo unis and scavenged from MS...
