I'm very excited about it. It looks like it'll be an amazing movie.

Sadly, I probably won't be seeing it until it comes out on DVD. :-(

Same here. I loved Waking Life; it was probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Unfortunately, where I live movies like that rarely play at the theatre.

It's based on a Phillip K. Dick story. It's bound to be good.

I was shocked how long this took to be made into a movie, considering this is based on the novel of the same name from the 70s. I bet when it comes here this friday its probably going to play at only 2 theatres which means i got travel to the other end of town to see it. By the way the webiste has dates posted for each cities release.

An interesting anecdote related to this movie:

Somebody made a realistic replica of Philip K. Dick with an animatronic head and sophisticated AI, along with a bunch of knowledge about Philip K. Dick's work. You could have a basic conversation with it about any of his books. They took it to a bunch of conventions, including a promotion for this movie. The guy who owned it accidentally left it on a plane and hasn't found it yet, which is unfortunate because it was one of a kind.

I'm looking forward to it as well. Phillip K. Dick was very protective (paranoid?) of his properties, and it wasn't until control of the IPs passed onto his children that most of Hollywood was allowed to make movies based off of his stories I believe.

Fucking Hawaii. Not showing anywhere. Richard Linklater... isn't this his 2nd cell-shaded movie (in a row, if I'm not mistaken?). Even if it's a turd, he did Dazed and Confused, so I'll never say anything bad about him.

Yes it is, his first cell shaded movie was "Walking Life" (2001). He actually has a qutie a few well known movies under his belt, such as "Slakcer"(kevin smiths influence to make clerks), and recently "School of Rock" and "The Bad News Bears". Of course he is mostly known for Slacker and Dazed and Confused.

Though he died before it was released, Dick did approve Blade Runner.

Well I saw A Scanner Darkly today and must say quite amazing. Robert Downy Jr. really steals the show. The movie does seem a bit short for the material(its about an hour and half long). But the casting for this movie was perfect and the rotoscoping really adds to this movie quite a bit.
