Hello, I dig up this thread a little bit but can you tell me more about the TDEV cable that is plugged under the unit ? It goes to a PC using USB, this is all I know. But do you know any software that go with it ?
I believe you also need the boot disc in order to use the console. An it looks like he has the disc in the pics. Unless you are referring to PC side software.
Thanks for your answer. In fact, I have been able to buy a NPDP reader with the same cable that the one connected to the TDEV unit. So I don't know if the cable is supposed to work with the NPDP unit. I have also been able to get boot disks, but as a NPDP reader has to be used with a Hardrive, they are useless in this case. It is a bit hard to find documentation about these hardware. Moreover, NPDP reader where not really used by developpers.
The NPDP reader was used by developers, I think you mean that the TDEV was not, since it was designed for educational institutes. I have the TDEV user manual but it is only 2 pages long, so it does not contain a lot of info. I am not sure if the cable can be used with the NPDP reader, I have not seen it mentioned in the documentation, I have only seen the usb-adapter mentioned.
A said to me by an old Nintendo employee, NPDP reader where not really used by developpers as the other Gbox and Gdev unit where also able to read NPDP carts, and they had some debug function that NPDP reader didn't had. This is why these unit are quite rare. But I agree with you about the TDEV unit. I haven't been able to get one, I hope to be able to buy one in the future. I still need to investigate to know if the cable that was plugged into the NPDP reader can work with it. I am waiting for an answer from the old Nintendo Employee. I will keep you updated.
I have found some info on my cable. It is not exactly the same as pictured with the TDEV. It is a cable that need to be used with ProDG to debug a game even on a NR reader or NPDP reader. It is called Devlink.
