Way to go stupid Hori! They make a HD screen then only give you the option of shitty composite. Not worth a penny IMO. Sure, the PS3 will look nice but nothing else will. You can buy a HD screen that size with HDMI inputs as well as component for the same money or less.

Wait, it connects to the PS3 how? But you are saying to connect anything else you can only use Composite video? That's retarded. The only thing I could think of that might make any sense at all would be your TV cable box.

It connects to the PS3 via the special built in cable. I don't own a PS3 but I'm guessing this cable from the screen goes in to the PS3's multi out port. The only other ports the screen has are composite. Pathetic.

The line under the last photo states that you get component video out of that cable. The screen is capable of displays well out of the composite range. Obviously they're not that stupid.

It *looks* like AV-Multi which I thought was only capable of 480p. Admittedly I've tinkered w/ my PS3 almost zero.

Yeah, I read that too but I can't see any component ports on the system at all. All I see is the AV Multi port, composite ports, headphone 3.5mm jacks and a power input. Maybe it's hidden or you need to use some converter to connect to the multi port?

Hmm... There is one cable in the photo: that offers component video.

They should have gone with an HDMI solution instead and the ability to display 1080p. For example Tekken 5 DR on the PS3 wont even play on this cause it must run on 1080p

Also 7ms lag is kinda pathetic nowadays ... especially for such a small monitor.

PS3 Multi-AV can output atleast 1080i I would imagine. And I would imagine that LCD screen if it can manage 720p, it should be capable of displaying 1080i. 1080p no, but that's what 1080i is for.

If anything, its an excellent concept and it looks ok on top of the playstation 3, but it definitely has room for and needs improvement.

Though I would never consider the PS3 portable, the PSOne yeah, its tiny, but never the PS3 . . .

Yeah, but that cable comes direct from the TV in to a PS3 doesn't it? How would I hook up a different console or Blue Ray player for HD iamges?

With it not being HD at all it kind of defines the point? :banghead: As people have pointed out for the same price you could easily get a cheap HD tv. And lets face it the PS3 is hardly a portable console aha

    maybe sounds dumb, but :
What´s so special about it? We´ve had this for PSone, Xbox, Xbox 360 and probably a lot of others, too (those 3 are the only ones where I know about Special Addon screens for sure)

Did either of you go to the sites posted in this thread? It's a 1366x768 screen and defaults to 720p for PS3. So yes, it's HD, and no, obviously it can't support 1920x1080 resolution.

I'm not sure if it's the lighting, but the white version seems to be a much better colour match; the black version seems slightly off. OCD FTW

Also, if the screen is 1366x768, it's going to have to scale the 720p output and introduce some lag. Why not just use a standard size 720/1080p panel?

If you want to watch TV on the PS3 then Torne or PlayTV would surely be a worthy addition if you live in Japan or the UK.

Doesn't mean the monitor won't display a 1080i source. I had a LCD with the same screen resolution but it could and would display a 1080i source. Obviously it wasn't at 1920x1080, it was scaled.

I doubt it'll scale. There'll be 48 unused lines, that's all. As for why they didn't use a native 720p screen, it'll be cost/form factor considerations. I guess there's plenty of laptops with 11 inch screens at that resolution so they were cheap.
