My TV has 2 composite AV input and 1 S-Video input but it's a stupid design. Normnally I can switch between AV-1 and AV-2 but if I plug in S-Video, both AV port are locked out and I only have S-Video (along with component, HDMI, and ATSC only RF) I do plan to mod the few systems I have with S-Video (TG-16, Genesis, 32X, etc) and use a passive composite to S-Video for the NES as I am not paying over $200 for the rare RGB PPU plus RGB to S-Video. My old AV switch boxes (4 Pelican branded 5 ports box, daisy chained) are showing old age with flaky switches so I'd like to replace them. Where could I find switch box that has S-Video support and can handle minimum of 15 devices (or 2x 8 devices)? Failing that eBay has a few 4P24T rotary switches (for video chroma and luma, and audio R + L) and I could build 24 devices video switch box.
For what it's worth, this same topic is currently being discussed on the modding forum (here). Some very generous and knowledgeable Assembler regulars have been helping me out with creating a custom switch box and that may prove useful for what you're after. I'm no whiz at electronics, but I'm starting to grasp what I need to do in order to build my switch box design (40 inputs total covering s-video, composite, component and RGB via SCART). Some other designs and options have been posted as well for less complex designs.
