A very sneaky Phishing scam posing as the IRS

    I got this in the mail today:

    Very sneaky, very sneaky. Just a heads up for you all to keep your eyes open for this kind of thing.

    Haven't gotten anything like that and already received my rebate. No surprise something like this will happen.

    1: Most government offices barely allow online payments. You can bet your nutbag they won't be sending out mass emails (without your name or social security number on them to boot) telling you how to do so.
    2: It's a link to an IP address, not a domain. Walk away.

    This is a text book scam (and I don't even have to read the contents). Out of curiousity, what was the sender's email address?

    I got one of those. For a second I thought it was just confirmation, since I sent in my rebate a week before I got it, then realized IRS doesn't send emails, and it was IRS.com. It can be sneaky at first glance though.
