Abnormal Xbox 360 Hard drive Found What Is It?

Buddy found this in an xbox he bought i have been able to go over and take a look and this is the pic he sent me i cant for the love of me seem to figure out what it is, and why it is. Seems like its almost factory made and not a mod, any ideas?

 

Why 2 SATA cables? That's what confuses me...

 

It could be relayed, so it shows 20GB or something but it's actually 5GB

Really old and im surprised you guys had no idea what it was lol, it was released after the xbox 360 con was exploited and resigning was possible with the dumped kv.bin also know as the keyvault.. this alowed for others saved data to be resigned and be used on others profiles. One of the first "retail" hacks for the xbox 360. The "xport" was another device that was another "docking" device but was entirely pc end.

The xsata just alowed you to transfer data using a pc program such as xplorer360 or xport360 (which transferred data to the xtaf partion)

 

Glad i could help, and this device is actually useful as an sata to usb interface provided you supply the power to the hard drive or sata device.

 

As for my question on the 2 SATA cables. I'm guessing the 2 cables are for passing the HDD through the USB adapter to the Xbox side. As in the Xbox HDD connector goes to the pass through board, goes to the USB adapter, back to the pass through, to the HDD caddy. Am I following correctly?

 

you guys are awesome! thank you all he actually sent me another pic later on that showed the usb port and then i knew it was a transfer setup and when i saw the leds form the side i knew it was nothing stock from ms didnt think they would make something so blingy

 

I would be suprised if was possible to make it as like an alternative Wasabi360 type device if patched with it somehow i hope

 

Honestly, very unusual. But why 2 SATA ports? Shouldn't 1 be enough for a pass-thru, even for a data sharing kit?

 

Im guessing it just makes that connection so the xbox 360 doesnt reboot if you take the harddrive off when its powered on (why you would do that, i have no idea) But it does cause some cool glitches.

 

What sorta cool glitches if you don't mind? like able to make it run unsigned code or able to boot to an alternative menu e.g XeXmenu?

Likely crashing. Disconnecting the hard drive isnt going to pass signing checks the CPU and such does and I dont see why you would think it would...
