Don't forget the Atari ST and SMS ports (or conversions, if you like) :smt096 I think there is a pretty fine line between what you define as 'ports' versus 'conversions', but that's just me, I guess.
yup true - I didn't mention those versions, just gave the main examples - NES / Famicom got a SF2 conversion as well -- maybe not a legal one though. the IBM PC had several SF2 games I believe. SF2 original and SSF2T
SF2 original is eeky on pc (i think i have said it before) cool graphics (top notch) but controls is only two buttons (uggh)
I used to have copies of both Street Fighter II and SSF2T on PC, but my copy of Street Fighter II broke (literally, my little brother stepped on it). I wasn't too upset - Street Fighter II on PC is total crap in my opinion. SSF2T's PC port is like a work of art, though.
I still have the PC version of SFII sitting around somewhere. Awful. It also came with really old/bad PC ports of Street Fighter 1 and some of the Mega man games.
Yep . They took full advantage of the current PC when it was released. Fantastic CD audio, the sounds were great, animation was nice (as I recall). The arcade version is the only one that surpasses it, in my opinion. Then again, I've only played the game on 16-bit systems, PC, and through MAME.
Street Fighter 2 (along with P80) was my first PC game, bought in Michigan in august '95... ohhh the memories I remember it used some utterly annoying copy protection (it came on floppies) scheme were you had to look up "word 16 on page 2" of the manual and the like...
I had CD versions of both. I can upload the soundtrack to SSF2T if anyone wants. I like it so much I burned it to a separate CD .
