I've had a doubt about these stores for quite some time... Those guys in black tshirts working there, how much they get paid for all that work? I can say is not minimum wage for sure since the service is way better than in other stores like best buy, plus the guys know a lot about Macs. Dunno, unless they are apple fans working for next to zero, just for the honor of being all day "in the Temple of Steve" So, any info guys?
So, does anyone knows? Sorry for bringing this topic back from the death, but I really want to know...
Surely you could send an email to the regional apple HQ and ask them nicely? I'm sure they will send you some bumpf.
I tried, they wont release that kind of information... Maybe the pay is so low they dont want outsiders to know. After all, with guys like michael moore making movies out of this kind of stuff companies must be aware of the risk of giving away such data.
I don't know either, but if you're fancying applying, you can go to http://www.apple.com/jobs/uk/store/ for UK http://www.apple.com/jobs/us/store/ for US Also, Italy, Canada and Australia too.
Yeah I'll love to hear Billy the macfanatic's rants about which model of the newton was the best, and his live recreations of the Mac vs PC ads, all of that 24/7 since his parents kicked him out of the house:lol:
I tried getting a job at an Apple store a few years back and although they said they were hiring I could not even get an interview. Maybe it was because I stated on my resume that I had worked in PC based network administration.
I'd imagine not being a maq user would put you at a disadvantage as you couldn't spew their propganda with a straight face. Same as a maq user working for the Zune department at MS although I do know a maq user who is wokring at MS for an internship, they didn't seem to really care.
MS has a big Mac development branch, theres a story on that in wired I think. Honestly I was impressed, the guys have every mac from 1996 to the present, all for the development of MS tools and apps for the mac. On the other hand apple is like some kind of hard right wing party: they dont tolerate any criticism from inside the company. I know some guys that used to work in cupertino and I tell ya, they were pretty happy when they were fired. For what they said, the working enviroment is pretty stiff in there...
http://www.pacifict.com/Story/ An interesting story that swings both ways depending on how you look at it. The demo for OS9 is incredible as well if you ever get a chance to watch it.
OS/9 is an operating system by microware for the 6809, 68000 and other machines. System 9 would be more apt for the mac system.
