    Hello,

I have just got the Wonder Library cart. I am curious about it, because of 2 things

    - this cart works with Mega-CD
    - What kind of CD it takes ?

But I have a problem. With a standard configuration compose of Megadrive+Mega-CD 1 this soft does not works. I have a black screen, no sound. There is an know incompatibility with Mega-CD 1 ? With Mega-CD 2+MD1 or 2 its works, but asks for this.

Any idea of why it don't works with Mega-CD 1 and what kind of CD it must use ?

CD-G (maybe Audio CD as well but I'm not sure)

Likely an incompatibility of Wonder Library software with some older BIOS.
When this cartridge ("Flux" works similarely) is inserted, console boots directly from cartridge instead of booting from Mega CD boot ROM as usual.
Cartridge software takes care of decompressing Mega CD BIOS and probably expects it to be located at some specific address in Mega CD boot ROM.
You can test it in Kega Fusion with different BIOS, you just need to enable the CartBoot option in .ini file.

Audio CD does not works. Same message.

I don't think this is a BIOS issue. Because both Mega-CD have the same BIOS. It's the free region BIOS.

Wonder Library was originally released alongside the Wondermega M2 in Japan. Maybe it only works in combination with certain features the Wondermega and Mega-CD2 bios have? The type of discs it needs are EBXA, they are electronic books with text, graphics and audio data.

Here you can download The New Grolier Electronic Encylopedia in ISO format, let me know when it works!

I'd toss a educated guess that the cart won't work on a WonderMega 1 either ...

Never tried that combination myself, but i'm going to test it as soon i have my WM1 connected again. Btw i'm guessing it will work on the X'Eye, providing there is no region lockout..

    OK bump for feedback !

I have tested the cart and ISO image provided by dutchconsolefreak (thanks dude ;) ).

After some tests this cart works only with Mega/Sega-CD 2. I also tested on a Mega-CD 1 with differents BIOS (including Sega-CD 2's BIOS). Wonder Library don't definitively works on my SCD1. Maybe a hardware issue...

With SCD2 and Grolier Electronic Encylopedia it's works. Wonder Library loads the CD-ROM and display the encylopedia. But it's not very exiting, no image, no annimation, no sound, slowly displayed white text on a black screen... I understand why this format don't breakthrough versus real book with beautifull images and drawings... ^^
