AC adaptor for Sega Genesis

Hi,

I'm planning on buying a sega genesis (model 1), console only. I have read that Sega master system power cables are compatible with sega genesis ones. However, in my case I plan to use a european SMS AC adaptor (220V) on an american Sega Genesis console. Will this work, i.e. do they output the same stuff?

 

NTSC Genesis power supply has an output of 9V - 1.2 AMP, with negative center pin.

 

...and my SMS power supply is 9V - 1A, negative center. So if 1A is sufficient I should be fine?
