AC adaptor SMS compatibility GG?

Anybody know if the AC adaptor for the Sega Master System is compatible with the Game Gear?
If yes it's safe to use it?
NOTE: my AC SMS adaptor have 9V DC, 1A.

Yes it's fine, it'll also work on the Megadrive (model 1), Japanese Famicom, Japanese Super Famicom, Sinclair Spectrum and a few other machines/computers...

 

Some friends of mine told me it will not work or it will damage the console because the power supply have 9V 1A and game gear support 9V 350mA (information taken from wikipedia).
What do you think Jamtex?

I've used a Megadrive PSU (with a adaptor) 9V 1.2A on a Megadrive, Master System (Japanese), Nomad, Wondermega and Game Gear all okay. Although the PSU isn't regulated so if the unit draws less current then the voltage will rise. The GG has a power regulator so it's normally not a problem but the caps are aging so may fail.

 

I think your friends don't understand how electricity works.

Power adaptors don't force their maximum power outputs into equipment; they provide only as much current as is drawn from the unit. The Game Gear has a maximum power draw of 350mA, and as long as the adaptor can supply that much, it's no problem.

If a game system draws 2A and the adaptor only can supply 1A, that's a problem. (Perhaps resulting in damage, but more likely in the game system just not powering up.)

 

Back with new informations:

On my Game Gears it say to have: DC 9V DirectCurrentSign 3W

On my Master System AC PSU it say to have: 9V DirectCurrentSign 1A 9VA and is CENTRE NEGATIVE.

NOTE: I can connect the PSU to my GameGear DC power jack.

So it is compatible?

CASE CLOSED: After a deep research, according to this site http://www.mrvfone.com.au/sega/p.htm my PSU is compatible with my GG.
