    Hello, everyone.

When Super Fighter Team acquired half of Panda Entertainment's back catalog of software on February 24, 2009, this included full rights to the A'can version of Sango Fighter. As we quickly decided to release the PC version of the game as freeware, the thought process began that perhaps we should similarly release its A'can counterpart in the same manner. As well, our close partnership with C&E, Inc. led us to acquire legal rights to Super Taiwanese Baseball League for the A'can, which is based on World Pro Baseball '94 for the Mega Drive.

As we do not currently have plans to pursue potential commercial avenues for either game, I feel that there is no reason to withhold them from the public. Therefore, as of January 22, 2010, we are releasing both game binaries. They may be distributed legally, for the purposes of entertainment, research, et cetera. Please download and distribute them as you will, keeping in mind they will not be hosted on our server for more than one week's time. Thank-you.

    Enjoy with our compliments.

    ---

Please note that we are not in any legal position to release any of the other A'can game binaries; anyone asking us to do so will be ignored.

    Have a nice day.

Why would you worry about the "legal position" of Super A'Can games? Are you honestly concerned about legal action?

We don't worry about them, we respect them. The companies that produced these games own them. It is their decision as to how they should be distributed, not ours. Therefore, unless we own rights to a particular game, or have received a company's written permission to handle distribution, it is not our call to make.

Just because a company may not decide to take legal action against someone for taking their things doesn't necessarily make it right. We won't distribute software unless we have the right to do so. It's our policy as a company, and my personal policy as an individual. What other people may choose to do is up to them.

For now, these two games are legally available - so please enjoy them. :)

I wish there were more videos of this game running. I've only seen this in action over cellphone video which really sucks.

    You're welcome.

Please note that the direct download links on our server are no longer available. However, anyone is welcome to host these two game binaries and post direct download links of their own.

Super Fighter Team did not produce the A'can games. We are an American company that has partnered with several companies in Taiwan, acquiring the legal rights to their IPs in the process. All A'can game development was undertaken by some of Taiwan's largest entertainment software companies, who came together in cooperation to launch the country's first original home game system.

Super Taiwanese Baseball League was developed by C&E, who also co-produced the A'can development environment. They are still in business today. Sango Fighter was developed by Panda Entertainment, who went bankrupt toward the end of the 1990's.

The A'can runs on a 68000 processor clocked at 10.74Mhz, along with a 6502 clocked at 3.58Mhz. Its nice hardware, capable of displaying 256 colors and producing music on par with the SNES. The majority of its game software doesn't illustrate these abilities very well, but I think one game (BoomZoo) provides at least a decent demonstration.

The A'can development kit has been described to me only very briefly: a standard PC with custom debugging hardware attached. I've been thus far inable to acquire any development hardware or source code for A'can games, as these bits were required to be returned to UMC (the firm behind the A'can) at their request. Presumably, they have all been destroyed. Even C&E no longer has any A'can stuff, and as I said, they co-produced its development environment.
