Two fan games to whet your appetite: Mega Man Legends 3 2D and Street Fighter x Mega Man. SFxMM came out long ago whereas MML3 2D is new. Both games are "8-bit", and can be challenging. They won't suffice as substitute for some, but they're still fun and better than the crappier Capcom MM games. Watch me play them on Twitch or watch the recordings on Youtube! I will stream at- Joking I'm not naive and narcissistic enough to think more than five would give a shit. Street Fighter X Mega Man started out as a fan project but was actually picked up and funded by Capcom to finish development, after which it was released for free to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of both Street Fighter and Mega Man. For those still itching for a Mega Man game they should give it a shot, it's about as legit as you're going to get.
There were those who said SFxMM was not authentic because it wasn't by Capcom, but neither was MMZ so their point is moot. SFxMM's stages feel under designed sometimes, but the whole game is solid.
Or you could get Azure Striker Gunvolt on 3DS (and then get Mighty Gunvolt for free until November), as both were designed by Kenji Inafune and are very obvious throw backs to Mega Man.
I'd want an actual new MM game and not a fake 8 bit rehash. I tried MM9 and 10 and the stage design felt so tedious and trial and error. I don't give a crap about the retrograded visuals and sound, so they offered nothing to me. I'd rather they'd try to advance the series instead of give fans the warm fuzzies. This is coming from someone whose favorite classic series game is MM8. Usually telling that to other MM fans makes them ignore me instantly. That being said, Mega Man X: Corruption looks promising. Maybe Capcom will officially endorse it when it gets finished?
Im with you..... not only is my favorite classic series game MM8 (well, mm8 tied with mm2 i guess, lol), but my favorite X series game is MMX4.
My heart aches for another game like MegaMan Powered Up. It would fit well in the 3DS; all the PSP owners thought they were too cool for it. edit: Looked at MMXC and it's being made in Flash, isn't that usually a bad sign?
