Hi All, Are there any solutions out there for games that still have hang-tabs on them? I have a sealed copy of A Link to the Past for SNES, and I'd like to get an acrylic case for it, but it still has the hang tab on it, and I'm reluctant to remove it due to potential damage to the seal and loss of value. Are there any solutions out there?
Since when do SNES boxes have hang tabs? Pics or it didn't happen. All I've ever seen (which, granted, is limited to mostly European and some Japanese ones) were the rectangular cardboard boxes, no tabs, with the occasional plastic shrinkwrap, also tabless. Are the US ones different?
What Stevo said. They're sticky plastic hang tags that are stuck on the wrap after the game is sealed. I'm very reluctant to attempt removing it, but I really want to box this up
OK, thanks. Never seen those on video games, around here they were usually in acrylic cases which got unlocked/removed at the register. I don't see any value in them, in fact I'd prefer a game without a tab to one that has it. They do indeed look like they'd break the foil if removed. Can't you fold them over to make it fit (score it first to make it perfectly straight and reduce stress), or cut the part that stands out off right at the edge?
Don't try removing it with heat, the heat would shrink the wrapping further and it'd tear. You can try freezing it, these type of hangtabs don't like warm temperature or cold temperature too. Solvents could do it too but I wouldn't do this since it could leak in the middle seal. We use these type of hangtabs here and they are handy but will ruin your day if you just pulll.
